On 7/2/1977, EL 2571 was the third unit on Conrail's USF coal train to PP&L's Montour Steam Electric Station at Strawberry Ridge, PA. While a Conrail GP35 in E-L paint was rare on this train, what a rarity for this unit to have original E-L numbering on the sides of the cab but with all other Erie Lackawanna lettering painted over, then re-identified with CR style stenciling on the ends of the locomotive. This is the only pre-merger Conrail unit I've ever seen modified in this manner. Thanks for posting and for your remark.
