48% eh? That's pretty darn steep! It would be interesting to see what it looks like when they do maintenance on this line, as I would think it would be difficult for a human to stand up on such a grade. If they have a mechanical malfunction up there, it's going to take some brave folks to come to the rescue.

It needs quite little maintenance, the speed is low (Vmax 12 km/h, 7.5 mph). The track runs everywhere on a stone embankment and the rails and cogs are anchored with iron bars. So there is no ballast at all.

Yikes! Getting that shot must have been harrowing. Looks like the cars would need a change of brakes at the start of the trip and the passengers would need a change of underwear at the end!
