Not sure if this is the same that I saw in WPA headed east on I80 on this same day, but I saw one of these at about 1000 from the WB lanes and saw the pin points for the trucks from the side profile.

What were the reasons? Cost? Transit Time? Clearance Issues? Flatcar Availability? Unloading Constraints at Destination?

Reason enough is the Class I's nasty habit of destroying high-dollar passenger equipment en route to its destination.
Hooking a high-shelf coupler into passenger car buffers will cause endless headaches.
