I'll echo Michael's comments above. Such local history(s) should be mandatory teaching in schools, grade school and repeated later as a refresher. For those that step away from the train for a moment, so much of what made America what it is today can be discovered and appreciated, though likely criticized if taught today be folks with no connection to the area. I see no Walmart, nor worse, a Starbucks - a great sign.
