0.9 miles east of Galena is a siding named, appropriately, Grant. In the 1960s it was rated to hold 102 cars. The Dispatchers used it quite frequently for meets. A little know fact is that the CB&Q also serviced Galena by a track that took off from the double track main at Galena Junction, about one mile east of Portage. It was abandoned sometime in the late 1950s or early 1960s. Much of the old ROW is now part of the Galena Junction Trail. This trail goes down to the location of the junction and continues on, as the Aiken Trail, along the old ROW of the CGW to Aiken.
