Impressive photo Nick! WOW!! Also, thank you for the description and that no injuries came out of this. I will say that those stack cars further up in the distance were also fortunate to not shove any further off the tracks than they did. Where those cars went off the rails is actually West Irvine Street which parallels the tracks for a short distance of maybe half to 3/4 of a football field. Thus it actually provided a buffer zone between the rails and the apartment complexes, though not by much. If those cars had derailed a few feet further, then they would have ended up in the parking lot of the Patriot Station Apartments, and possibly crushing a few of the tenants vehicles. I hope that no vehicles were damaged, although it's possible that as far off the rails those cars look, they may have damaged a couple in the parking lot of the building at 603 Hester Avenue, which is the building those cars are closest to. It appears they definitely took out the dumpster for that building.
