I remember seeing this scene a few times in the mid
1940's on the New Haven Maybrook line. I was too young to take pictures.

Beautiful shot. With so many passenger trains on them I’m struck by how poor the tracks looked “back in the day”.

Thanks for the old Pennsy K4 photo. When the K4's were bumped from PRR main line service, the New Jersey area was the where the K4's were sent to finish their careers.

Must not have been a valid reason to preserve this engine along with the 2 surviving K4s locomotives.
