More likely #33, the Silver Comet on its last run to Atlanta. The Comet was terminated when it arrived in Atlanta that day. The train was put in the consist of #298 that same day and hauled back to Hamlet. The Comet #33 was scheduled in Athens about 5:30 am. Our switch engine would go on duty when it cleared. #34 the east bound Comet would arrive in Athens around 8:00 pm. If the above date is correct, this was not the last comet. I don't think it was abolished until 70 or 71
