Been there and did that. I stood in the vestibule on many a trip a lot more than sitting in my seat. Thanks for sharing great memories.

Been there and done that too. I stood in the vestibule area a lot longer than I did in my passenger car seat. When I got home after the ride, I spent about 15 to 20 minutes in the shower trying to wash all of the cinders out of my hair and the 'racoon eye pattern' off of my face that that was left there from the coal smoke because I was wearing googles. Ah...thanks for the good memories from riding a main line steam locomotive!
