As a retired long distance truck driver, I made countless container pick-ups and drop-offs at the Elwood Yard which just east of I-55. There is constant movement by trains, trucks, cranes, and other vehicles all the time. I have seen the BNSF locomotives working the yard quite a few times and usually they are moving stack trains. There are also a lot of trucks waiting in line to either pick-up or deliver containers. I could not even guess how many containers there are at this location - 4000 plus probably. A person would be amazed at all the action going here - trains, cranes, and trucks - all working together in harmony to get the freight delivered.
