May I post a correction? The block for engine information says this is a Norfolk Southern SW1200 but the photo shows an Illinois Central Gulf Geep, maybe one of the Paducah rebuilds: witness the original GP-9 fans, louvers, etc., but the re-worked air filter and multiple exhaust stacks. Regardless, this is an excellent photo and thank you for sharing it!

Not an SW 1200, but what a beauty! Does she still run occasionally? I remember growing up In Illinois and getting so tired of seeing the Paducah Geeps back then. But they sounded great and especially as multiple units accelerating. Tired of these rebuilt Geeps? Not anymore!!!!
