Interesting photo Daniel. Very bright and vibrant lighting highlighting this locomotive. I notice two things about this photo too. First - the paint scheme is very Union Pacific "inspired"(?) or similar to their look. Second - on the rear of the long hood above the vent at walkway level - up along the roof-line, is that "Wash Me" scribbled in the grime on the locomotive? LOL! That would be funny if it were! Although I can't read the language - so I'm not going to say that it is!

Unfortunately I don't speak the Arabic language either, but I do know someone who could help me translate what is written on the locomotive. I will keep you informed of the results of my investigations.

The mystery is now solved concerning the inscription on the rear of the long hood above the vent at walkway level. The translation of the text written in Arabic is as follows: CAPTAIN KHALED. I think we'll never know who Khaled is. It may be the name of the driver of the locomotive.

Thank you Daniel, that is interesting to know. And I can agree that it most likely is the name of the Driver/Engineer for this particular locomotive. I still think it would have been funny if it actually was "Wash Me!" scribbled in the grime. Maybe another locomotive or another time! ;-)
