How did this get to the USA, and how could it pull cars with its couplers and brakes being different?

James- how the Repton got to Steamtown is near the bottom of the SR No. 926 "Repton" page on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway's web site. (Click "Steam Locomotives" under "About Us" on their main page.) If you click SR 926 "(more..)" on this page, above, under "Locomotive No./Train ID," you can see the previous photo (741198) of No. 926 that I uploaded that has a better view of the North American coupler applied for operation in Canada and the USA.
