As you have probably already determined from the curves and angles still visible on the ground, the pier that is now a parking lot and park once had rails on each side with a station building between them. Steamboats would dock here to pick up passengers for various hotels and other points on the lake. There was a great deal of activity here in the summer during the turn of the 19-20th centuries. The Bangor & Aroostock RR had a station in the area just out of the left side of this image with their tracks extending onto the dock.

The Canadian Pacific station is visible on the upper left side of the photo. A volunteer organization is presently caring for and restoring this station.
