Nice photo. Is it me or is the switch just to the left of the signal lined up to a position where there are no rails? Possibly used to protect the diamond/crossing when the diamond/crossing is occupied?

@Jeff Sell - Exactly that, good eye! A derail used to protect the diamond from any movement not authorized to cross it.
