Back in the days when I was running in the freight pool between Milwaukee and Portage for the Milwaukee Road there was and old farm house just above the locomotive in Adam's photograph. No matter what time of day or night you always got a highball with a lantern from the window. All the Engineers including myself would always whistle a couple of toots for the occupants of the house....this went on for years until one night we came by and there was the Reeseville Fire Department as the house had burned to the ground......never did find out what happened to the occupants.
