RS3s were local freight power on this line going way back to at least the early 60s. I recall that the old New Haven Railroad (which the media constantly reminded us, was bankrupt) used to keep a string of these idling away at the Waterbury Railroad Station. A local out of Waterbury, bound for Torrington a couple of times a week was the only train I ever knew when I was a kid back then.
