I wasn't really sure if UP was still running these cupola cabooses by this time. In my younger years living by The Milwaukee Road Chehalis Sub, UP ran their trains out of Tacoma on this line a couple of different times because BN's Point Defiance route was shut down due to damage. The first was in March 1980, just as the Milwaukee was ending service in the West, UP finished the show on the line by end of March. The next time was about 1982, during the rule of Weyerhauser's Chehalis Western log trains. Both times UP used this line, I was so wanting to see some of UP's older power such as GP9's or see the end of train followed by one of these cupola cabooses. Although I enjoyed seeing Union Pacific run the Chehalis Sub for those seasons, I was slightly disappointed that their trains there were ruled by SD40-2's, 6-axle U-boats and followed on the end with bay window cabooses.
