Pure vandalism.

The purist. I used to teach at the Art Institute of Seattle and a few students showed up with photo albums of railroad graffiti. I guess they thought I would appreciate it. It is interesting how the culture has changed and what we are willing to accept as normal these days. It seems the railroads are pretty quick about bothering railfan photographers, but leave graffiti "artists" alone. It takes a lot of time to do an image of this magnitude.

I spent 40 years employed on the RR never saw anyone with a can of paint except my uncle Roman who was a painter in the Milwaukee Road paint shop.....The CP RR PD back in the 90's was always trying to catch vandals in Madison,WI.our company cop from Nahant,IA.was always getting sent up there on stake outs..... but I don't believe they ever arrested a one.....they do have federal arrest powers....in every state!

For some reason some RR's dont like railfans, but don't really care if their cars get tagged for some reason.
