It looks like the two tracks are close together at either side of the ridge, so that they didn't make one double track tunnel is strange to me. It seems like that would require less excavation.

@Erick: On the other side both lines leave at different levels, one goes down and another goes up, so the construction of 2 different tunnels. In another photograph I have, from the other side of the tunnels, it is clear. Thanks for your comment!
