This track was originally (briefly) the New Orleans & San Francisco Railroad, I think a joint subsidiary of Southern Railway and maybe the Frisco? Soon the New Orleans & San Francisco Railroad was renamed New Orleans Terminal [not Traction] Co. At some point Southern bought out its co-owner. In 1993 Norfolk Southern merged New Orleans Terminal Co. (and Louisiana Southern Railway) into the Alabama Great Southern Railroad, which remains the NS subsidiary that operates in Louisiana.
