Was kidding about blizzard, but you may have noticed the ice on the trees and other vegetation. Snow almost never stays around long this far south, and generally causes a few inconveniences for a day or two, and not much else. The ice, however, sometimes causes much bigger problems with broken trees, downed utility lines, etc.

Considering the heat / humidity and bugs in the South Eastern region of the U.S., I would think a few days like this would be most welcome.

Good point, William. Also, light in the summer seems hazy most days down in Alabama, so the clarity of winter light/skies was welcome, and it was rarely very cold.
