I was driving west with my wife across western Canada and happened to catch the Canadian at Field or just leaving it. We caught it here as it came out of the tunnel near hwy 1, and then it stopped. I asked the crew in the photo what was going on and they said they were low on fuel, after which the train was backed down to Field for refueling. We then chased it back toward Lake Louise before heading west again to Revelstoke.

Right place, right time. I rode this train in August 1978 from Vancouver to Winnipeg.
