Wonderful timing.
One the interior side of the trucks, part of a heavy duty mechanism is visible. Please confirm if this is to open the "bottom dump" doors of the car. If not, what purpose do they serve?

Ry, I can confirm that this is the bottom unloading mechanism (manufactured I believe by Miner Enterprises). for opening the bomb-bay doors. A machine called a "trapping mechanism" engages that "protrusion" visible above the left wheel on the truck on the car on the left and rotates it - this causes the doors to open (very suddenly I might add), rotating the in the other direction closes the doors. This all happens while the train is in motion (they can also unload the train while stopped on the dock)

Excellent shot. Note the difficulty trying to keep a diamond maintained as well.

It's neat how the cars, tracks, ties, and ballast are all the same monotone taconite red color. Nicely captured.
