The Breda-Marelli electrics always remind me so much of the EP-5 bi-directional electric locomotives that General Electric built for the New York, New Haven & Hartford railroad in the Northeastern US. The EP-5s were a bit longer and most likely heavier than the "Sophias" and were built in the 1950s.
