I understand this was one of the first two PRR E7's that started arriving in 1945. Overshadowed by other locomotives such as the 4-4-4-4 T1's they quietly went about their work with little notice until their far higher availability, reliability and lower operating costs became apparent. This unit finished out its carrier painted black for Penn Central exchanging commuter trains with GG1's at South Amboy, NJ.

Nice shot, John. I last saw an E7 in action on July 25, 1973 when my parents took me to Horseshoe Curve for the first time. The first move we saw was a westbound Truc-Train, with a mixture of six E7 and E8 units. The sound of those twelve 567 V12s was absolutely incredible. Unfortunately, I only had a Kodak 126 Instamatic in hand.
