The station roof looks to be in very good shape. What is it used for?

Owners of the station have worked with the city to make it both a community center and a rental venue. Numerous city events are held at it annually and numerous restoration projects have been done on it in the past few years.

Also the remains of Hurricane Camille (1969) caused extensive damage to the roof resulting in a completely new roof being put in along with new spires. At that point a private resident had owned it since the 40's. Service to the station reportedly ended in the 30's. Throughout its history it has also served as a hotel and apartments.
