Hmm. I thought that wide cab on the EMD GP60M would provide enough comfort. Thanks for sharing Steve. I wish I could have seen these trains in operation too. It's a shame BNSF doesn't feel the same way about the B truck design.

The safety cabs were heavy and made the 4-axle units ride hard(er); but even the standard cab ones were fairly rough I believe.
In any event, the weight of the safety cabs made 4-axle units too heavy with the full-size fuel tanks (axle loadings hit their maximum), so they had to use smaller tanks. That doomed the short-lived 4-axle revolution quickly. Santa Fe ordered 83 4-axle safety cab and B-units each from GE and EMD (only EMD for the B-units), then it was all 6-axles again.
