Don't forget COASTER's EMD F59PHIs. There not much in the grand scheme of things, but they do count. Thanks for sharing this with us Kevin. I sure hope at least one of the un-rebuilt EMD F59PHs and EMD F59PHIs get preserved. They are a huge part of Metrolink's history. By the way, do you know the status of 800 and if it will stay in service as a yard switching and backup unit?

John - of course Coaster’s units count. Depending on how long Metrolink’s F59PHRs remain in service, they may even outlast Coaster’s PHIs, if NCTD expands their order for Siemens Chargers. Only time will tell. As for 800, it is currently still being used as a yard switcher, however it is slated to be retired within the next few years along with the F59 fleet.

Thanks Kevin. Have any idea if 800 will be sent to the Orang Empire Railway Museum or any other museum?

Not sure what the disposition of 800 will be, but I’d be willing to bet that Metrolink will only be looking to get the best price for it, whether that be from a museum or some other source.
