While a Junction no longer, this location was the interchange point for the Skaneatles Railroad ( 1840 - 1981) with the New York Central "Auburn Road." The 5-mile Skaneatles RR provided freight and passenger service to the lakeside resort of the same name, connecting there with steamboats serving the resorts and cottages along Skaneatles Lake. Service ceased in 1981 when the last on-line industry closed. PS: If you are perplexed by the name, the local pronunciation sounds like "Skinny Atlas."
