GP38-2's are generally reliable engines that are liked by crews - what was wrong with the 5500's?

They were quick Altoona rebuilds from the old NS 27, 2800s and 4100s. Engineers didn't like them because they were slippery and didn't perform well with the tonnage they were expected to handle, they were regarded overall as junk. Allot of photographers didn't like them for personal reasons being they had been chop nose jobs, you'd commonly hear trackside "I'm not shooting that junk", now they wish they had because when their lease was up NS rounded them up almost overnight. They went to FURX where their NS markings were hastily painted over. Quite a few are still trolling around in black. No one will ever be happy lol
