I just experienced Altoona (Horseshoe Curve) this summer and was so happy to see SD60s still leading trains and rebuilt SD 40-2s pushing trains across the mountains. How I and we all would've loved to see your SD45s and the other real second generation power there - a fantasy now but the standard cab SDs that work the Altoona are still great and sound great! (but not as loud as their originals). Altoona is still so awesome - visit its very steep downtown side streets and small businesses and rail action as you go out to the Horseshoe Curve Park. Relish it all as soon as you can!

Is this near what is now the Brickyard Crossing?

Location involved hiking and was about halfway between the Brickyard crossing and Horseshoe Curve, no tracks crossed.
