I too will always remember Jim not only as a photographic genius, but also as a really nice guy who was incredibly generous both with helpful advice to young photographers and in making his photos available to authors working on book projects. I was fortunate to encounter him in both capacities. I'm happy that towards the end of his long life he had again become highly visible in the railfan world through a revival of his work in print. May he rest in peace.

Sorry to hear of the passing of this legend. I never had the opportunity to meet him, but his work was truly inspirational.
