D&H 4024 along with D&H 4025 were later wrecked at Ballston Spa NY on August 12, 1967 in a collision with fatalities. Train #9, the Northbound "Montreal Limited" was struck by a southbound Extra 5021 South. There were two killed and 34 injuries ,including passengers. Apparently, the passenger engineer and firemen failed to operate the train in accordance with Approach and Stop indications.
