Probably a different Stadler but name sure sounds like name of manufacturer of drafting tools we used in school in 1970s and 80s.

The name of the drafting tools manufacterer is "Staedtler", a german company. "Stadler" is a well known large swiss railway builder with a total of about 7500 people in several countries, including the USA.
