Am looking at various details on this thing and couple in particular catch my attention. One being the apparently rubber gaskets between sections of the hood; am guessing they may be for dampening vibration noise. The other one is the notch at bottom of cab side which logically looks intended as a toe hold for exiting cab's side door and accessing walkways along hood. Bar along cab side has to be a hand hold for doing that since it of identical configuration to grab irons along top edge of hoods.
