This is one picturesque area. Every article in the photo complements the scene.

Looking at brackets on signal cabin walls I'm guessing there was once a walkway for access to clean window exterior.

And then, is it safe to say the scene looks Very British? Hmm ... how would this photo look as desktop wallpaper?

The scene is very British but also totally unreal. Beamish museum was built on a green field site and every building was brought brick by brick from where it stood and rebuilt, so the station, signal box, signals, track and all other paraphernalia came from elsewhere. At present there is a manor house from the 18th century a 19th century church, a town from 1913 with shops, banks and houses. The latest project is to recreate a town from the 1950's and on my visit last week the foundations for buildings had been laid and the streets marked out. Going to be strange to see a museum about a time I lived through

Dave - I'm sure the museum will look even better when all of the other additions are added. It seems like a neat idea!
