Most, likely, this train is coming from Oldenzaal or Bad Bentheim and not from Venlo. Venlo is far more south.

Yes you are quite correct Bob - it would have been Bad Bentheim. We had seen the train checked outside Salzbergen on the line from the Netherlands but I crossed from Venlo on the train several times in those years and the brain has difficulty in remembering the different routes nearly 50 years ago!
