First time i looked at this, I thought it was a GP-38! haha! Very pretty loco. They still run gp-38s too I think.

Fast forward to 2017 and the last two active F40s from that series are now occasionally used in ballast service.

As far as I know they were at the end of their service life and would have required rebuilding which was not in the budget. The dual modes arrived around the same time.

What a change in this area today! All big box stores about to open up now. The spur still crosses route 22 but it just ends, who knows if trains will ever run on it again. Thanks for sharing.
