It's marvelous to view such fascinating classic images as you have presented. I am still trying to pinpoint the location of your "City of Everywhere" shot (ID #636012) however believe this view is looking west at Forelle, WY, just east of Laramie. This segment of railroad (the lower grade route toward Hermosa) was not double-tracked until the late seventies with the primarily westward track a distance to the south as it came down the original and much steeper alignment via Red Buttes.
