Bunch of generators sitting there, traction motors are smaller and flatter. One on the end was probably just rebuilt and these three will go to the rebuilder once they get enough (trailer load) I would assume. The engine was probably the pull form the loco and they are waiting for a rebuilt one to go along with the generator. She'll be almost good as new after all that.

Main alternator, not generator. No generator in any EMD product after the last GP38 was made in 1970 or 71.
