I hope that display of black smoke was for the photographer. Good coal would help, so would a good fireman. Neither is evident here.

Raymond - this was in fact part of a private photo charter, at least, the train to the right, No. 475 pushing a mixed freight past the regular passenger run led by No. 90. The impressive and dramatic plumes seen here are the exception at the Strasburg Rail Road - though, if you are after one, this is often the best place on the line to catch one, as the trains pause here before climbing a grade ahead.
