The BB63000's were, in many ways, the RS1's of France. Built in a number of variants in the 1950's and early 1960's, with two different prime movers, there were about 1000 of them. They typically made 600-800hp and were used broadly as road-switchers in the true sense. Some of the later units are still in service after 50 years or more.
