It was customary for the Bangor & Aroostook to lease some of its GP-9s to the Pennsylvania RR during BARS's summer "slack season." Apparently that practice continued into the early days of Penn Central.
It is "rumored" that one of the BAR GPs made it all the way to California somehow as "run through power" from the Pennsylvania. Reportedly, BAR was "not amused."
