This wye goes well back into the age of Steam, as there was never a turntable at Montauk. In the 1960s when both the "Cannon Ball" and the "Advance Cannon Ball" normally ran with open-end Parlor-Observation cars on the rear, they were turned on this wye before going back West on Sunday.

Not much room there after that crossing... I wonder how many close calls there was over the years? Especially if they were turning around a large steam engine...
