Based on the curve and that building in the background on the right (which is still there), this would be a WESTbound freight coming FROM Cedar Hill (and headed TO Maybrook), not an eastbound.

Thanks; I have corrected the caption. I took a lot of photos at Milford back then but after nearly 50 years things sometimes get a little fuzzy!
