Back when I was with NS long hood forward was a no-no. I was once on a train coming from Linwood to Columbia long hood forward because the engineer was in a hurry to get home and didn't want to take the time to turn the engine. As soon as the yardmaster noticed us entering the yard he gets on the radio and gives me a bunch of grief about it.

Wow haha. Gone are those days. I'd say it isn't uncommon to see at least 1 or 2 of the daily locals running long hood forward, sometimes more. P28 is about 50/50.
