The Geep seems to have an unusual roof extension at the back of the cab, Unique to the EL? I searched under GP35 and EL GP35 and didn't see another one like that. Optical delusion?

Looks like a "smoke deflector." Various railroads seem to have tried them from time to time, but they don't seem to make enough of a difference that any stick with them. You can probably find some pics of Santa Fe units wearing something similar.
