Ironic...simply ironic - Two Operation Lifesaver painted locomotives about strike a vehicle that didn't see the huge train coming down the tracks. Just imagine how the local news would have described this event had the train hit the vehicle.

Guess the stop sign has been put up on S Delmorr since Google Street view was connected to Google Maps which is showing nothing on S Delmorr in the way of signage when approaching from this direction, not even the classic RR crossing crossbuck - but there is one when approaching from East Bridge, at the corner of Smokin Joe's parking lot. Does the house across Chambers from DQ still have the pink wall inside its front porch? That might indicate time difference between when Street View was made and now. Now, if they were turning off Chambers left on to S Delmorr, and there is a Stop sign there on Chambers, they might not have been able to see the train through Dairy Queen; and depending on timing and relative motion, train might or might not have been seen between DQ and trees behind it, so the question is, was there a mental connection made with a train horn blowing for the crossing? Hmm, interesting situation.

Independent of whether the driver might have run the stop sign on Chambers to make a left on to S Delmorr which would beat the train, this intersection has issues.

And who decided to build the rails that close to the DQ? Or vice versa.

There is a stop sign for the side street where the blue SUV is in the photo. The gold Explorer came off that street without stopping (without regard to vehicular traffic), and with horn sounding, drove right in front of the train. There is no crossing lights here, the crew uses fuses to protect the crossing.

That was curious behavior. Maybe the SUV driver thought they had superior rights to the crossing if their vehicle blew first or louder? Something interesting was going on somewhere.
