Glad this engine was able to avoid the scrappers as all her sisters pretty much did. For some reason these engines never got much love. I"m sure there are people on this site that know the reason why.

To me, this locomotive looks VERY "Alco-like." Think "What IF Alco had built a C639 ??"

As fan of all weird locomotives, it's nice to see this at least being taken care of for now. Perhaps it will last long enough for its historical value to be properly recognized. I'd love to see it restored to Conrail gray someday...

To Rich Brown: Montreal Loco Works built one M640 model. The M line was the successor to the Alco Century models. See also M630 and M636.
